The Beginning

1966

The Fisher trailer, 1962

Dave & Suzanne Fisher

Starting from a 17-foot mobile home near the Ohio State Fairgrounds, Dave and Suzanne Fisher built a business rooted in service, community, and the belief that good people deserve great homes.

"Before it was called Victorian Village" — Dave Fisher. Purchased before the neighborhood had a name, before it became one of Columbus's most beloved historic districts.

Interest rates climbed to 18.45% by 1981 — yet F&W held firm and continued to invest.

Dave wore every hat: Rent Man, Maintenance Man, Owner Man. Suzanne ran the books.

This neighborhood became the cornerstone of F&W's Columbus portfolio — growing to 800+ units in this area alone by 2015.

The Near East Side Turnaround

In 1987, F&W purchased a 200-unit complex with barely 25 paying residents. Through intensive renovation and hands-on management, the team brought it to full occupancy within 18 months — defining F&W's reputation for repositioning distressed assets.

Expansion & Innovation

1989

Indianapolis Partnership

Success in Columbus opened the door to repositioning 400 units of distressed properties across the state line.

1990s

"Mom & Pop to Real Shop"

F&W adopted technology, formalized processes, and introduced the 'think like an owner' mindset for every employee.

2000s

Homeownership Boom & Bust

2004–2009 tested the portfolio. F&W held steady — and when the rental market returned in 2010, they were positioned to lead.

2011–13

David's Cancer Fight

David Fisher fought and won a battle with cancer while still leading the company — defining the resilience at F&W's core.

Next Generation

2013 marked a pivotal milestone as leadership passed to a new generation, carrying forward Dave's founding vision while steering F&W into the modern era.

That same year, F&W partnered with Buckeye Real Estate on four OSU campus projects — entering the student housing market.

Family Grows Stronger

2014 brought the family even closer — Nate's sister joined the business full-time, becoming the third generation of Fishers to take an active role in the company.

By 2013, the portfolio had grown to over 800 units in Olde Towne East alone — a testament to 45 years of steady stewardship.
